New year is new begin or we will say its were the routine life cycle stops, progresses and starts once more. each initial of January we tend to all celebrate the new begin with friends and family. The flowers within the Kolam or rangoli is that the sign of progress. sort of a bud blooms into a flower year bring us new chance to progress in our life.
Deepam or lamp is the light which drives away darkness and evil from coming in our way. Together the make a design which welcomes new opportunities which brings happiness to ones life and stops evil from disrupting it. The climbers in the kolam or rangoli design signifies togetherness and unity.

Kolam or rangoli is design made by common house wives. We call them home maker and they were true to the name. Am an interior designer pursuing education. But truly they did all jobs of a interior designer, house keeping, baby sitting, cooking and what not. They were all multitasking and handled it all very well. To me the design looks a bit Chinese because of the colors i think. Especially the pink shades in it. In the center of the design is a star shaped flower with round petals. The petals have a diamond shaped extension. There is an hexagonal outline. In between which we can see jalli like floral motifs. Deepams on the vertex of the hexagon faces inwards. Diamond shaped extension exceed farther into another diamond shape. This has a flower in the further end.

Krishna or kannan in Tamil is one god who is famous among girls. There are many poems written by popular female devotees of Krishna. He is one of my favourite character from hindu literature. The power and confidence radiating from him is astonishing. His love was Radha.
This kolam design shows Kannan and Radha sitting in a ratham or royal vehicle of olden days. Bows can be seen in the ratham symbolizing the bravery of lord Krishna. They look as if they are in motion. The horses are frozen in time in running phase. The creepers, leaf, parrot and pathway show the garden setting in which they are usually seen in many of the paintings depicting their love.
Colored in bright shades this rangoli looks very lively. This shows all aspects of Radha and Krishna's life. It comes under the category of festival kolam, janmashtami, Krishna jayanthi, Rangoli and other kolam. It is drawn with the help of dots.
