This rangoli kolam combines both star and deepam (lamp).both of them are lightening agent and they eliminate darkness. Thereby they symbolize elimination of evil or darkness from life. When drawn in the entrance it is believed to keep away evil eyes.
This also shows 'sangu' or sea shell. The sound of which is considered to keep away evil. Altogether the rangoli kolam is a kind of protection spell against all evil. The center of the design is a flower which gives a focal point to the design. Colors used are analogous colors:- blue violet, violet and red violet. It will go well with all types of flooring.
Can be drawn during any day. Sometimes drawn in the 'puja room' or prayer room. It can be drawn to celebrate diwali, kathigai deepam and other festivals that marks & celebrate the end of the evil.
